About our Exam
We are pleased to announce that AMBA's new certification exam is complete and
ready for you to take. Our idea of an exam meant that the exam needed to be
thorough, complete and most of all -- credible. We wanted it to be reflective of
our industry which is why we cover 18 different sections from Medical
Terminology to Compliance, requiring nearly 1,200 answers with a 90% accuracy
rate in order to become a CMRS or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist.
Here is a list of the 18 section tests that comprise the entire exam:

You'll have 45 days to complete the exam which will come to you on CD. The
exam
is easy to install on your computer and as you take each test section, your
grade will be forwarded automatically to our specialized Performance
Tracker. Once you have completed the final test section, your grade will be
sent to you via email and you will be mailed your certification which is
suitable for framing within about 2 weeks. The exam costs $325.
One retest will be allowed, after a 30 day waiting period (but not more than
60 days) for an additional fee of $175.
Study materials are available through AMBA in eBook format that will assist
you in preparing to take the exam. The study materials are priced at $199
and are available through AMBA and
CMRS Member Partners.
We have no formal requirements to take the exam, however, you should have
either experience in billing or have a good foundation of knowledge on
medical billing and a high school diploma or equivalent. It won't be easy,
but if you use the study materials and you are resourceful, you can pass the
exam.
You will need current ICD9, CPT4 and HCPCS Code Books as well as an email
account and internet access -- and you must be an AMBA Member. Info

Additionally, 5% of the answers on this exam can be found in the book
"Understanding Health Insurance" by Jo Ann C. Rowell and Michelle
A. Green. You can order this book from our library.
You will be required to earn 15 CEUs (continuing
education credits) each year to maintain your CMRS Certification. We are
in the process of approving several products, seminars, publications, videos
and other options for CEU's. Please check back here soon for an updated
list. And, if you have a product for consideration or know of one please let
us know.
Once you are certified, you, too can become a CMRS Member Partner. By
becoming a member partner, you will be able to sell the exam and study
materials to others and make a profit off of selling these items.
Member Partners earn $75 for each exam and $100 for each study guide you
sold. We feel that our members are the best ones to promote our exam and we
know you'll want to earn extra income, too!
